As the Director of Data Science, you will use your data science talents and analysis skills directly to help our clients generate business value via detailed analysis and modeling of customer data. Specific projects might include:

  • Developing a customized customer segmentation for our clients based on extensive analysis and modeling of customer data
  • Building a predictive customer churn model that helps identify which groups of customers appear to be at risk of lapsing, and why
  • Designing and deploying a dynamic and scalable machine learning model in the client’s cloud platform of choice that helps predict which subsets of customers would be most likely to respond to specific marketing promotions
  • Building a Bayesian hierarchical model to understand price sensitivity of our client’s customers across multiple departments / product types
  • Doing quantitative analysis of a client’s customer survey results, and overlaying the research data with observable quantitative behavioral data
  • Developing descriptive and predictive models to help evaluate “what-if” scenarios for our client’s strategic business initiatives, e.g., projected return on investment
  • A master’s degree or beyond in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related engineering fields.
  • Advanced level programming skills in R and/or Python
  • Experience in the following analytic areas: linear/logistic regression, forecasting, statistical analysis (extra credit if you’re familiar with Bayesian techniques), supervised/unsupervised learning, descriptive and predictive modeling
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and experimental design
  • Ability to select appropriate analytic methods and models based on a client’s unique business problem
  • Skill with data visualization techniques both to explore data sets and to discover insights from analyses
  • Extensive experience performing exploratory data analysis on large quantities of both structured and unstructured data
  • Proven ability to provide technical project leadership on teams of various sizes
  • Skill in translating complex business needs into well-posed analytical problems
  • Familiarity with at least one of the major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Client-facing or internal consulting experience, including presenting insights to senior level business teams and leading clients through strategic initiatives
  • Comfort in translating a business problem into an agile analytics workplan
  • Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end design, development, and delivery of complex analytics solutions from concept through to production
  • Impactful storyteller who can communicate complex analytic concepts and translate those to recommended actions
  • Adept at predicting stakeholder needs and designing multiple paths to a solution
  • At least five years of experience in leading teams of data scientists at various levels
  • Marketing analytics and customer analytics experience
  • Marketing or business strategy development based on quantitative customer insights
  • Applying analytic insight to marketing operations (e.g., email, web, app)
  • Customer lifecycle strategies (e.g., acquisition, development, retention)
  • Market research (e.g., competitive analysis, market/sales forecasting)
